Open Full Time Position: Grants Manager
The MAM Grants Manager is responsible for identifying, researching, writing, and administering MAM’s portfolio of proposals to foundation, corporate, government, and individual sources of support for annual operating funds, ongoing and new programs and services. The individual is skilled at making compelling cases to appropriate funding organizations.
Essential Duties
• Forges excellent working relationships with MAM program staff and interviews them to gather information that enables the writer to grasp the concepts of art exhibitions and education programs for which funding is being sought.
• Acquires and maintains a sound knowledge and understanding of MAM, and uses that knowledge and understanding to better articulate the programs and projects for which grants will be sought.
• Researches grant-making organizations and analyzes them to identify likely funding sources for MAM.
• Writes MAM grant applications exhibiting strong expository writing skills and a high-level command of grammar and spelling.
• Reviews MAM budgets for which funding is being sought with program and accounting personnel to present clear and accurate figures.
• Prepares grant proposals in accordance with each grant-making organization’s preferences, and follows exactly each grant-making organization’s guidelines.
• Maintains contact with grant-making organizations during their review of submitted applications in order to provide additional supportive materials and maintain the highest level of stewardship.
• Supplies progress reports to grant-making organizations that have funded MAM projects and programs.
• Maintains MAM “Grants Management Report” spreadsheet which tracks status of applications in the pipeline.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 2-3 years of experience working in the field of non-profit grant writing
• Experience must include verifiable successful experience in technical writing, proof-reading, editing, copy writing, grant writing or equivalent written communication format
• Track record of successfully managing a $1-2 million portfolio of grants; ability to present portfolio of written work
• Proven strong written and oral communications skills
• Innovative thinker, facilitator and consensus builder
• Computer proficiency in Raiser’s Edge, and Microsoft Office Suite programs
• Excels in technical writing and possesses excellent command of the English language
• Demonstrates proven ability to work with individuals in a diplomatic fashion
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Possess strong organizational and analytical skills with extreme attention to detail
• Ability to coordinate overlapping projects and deadlines
• Knowledge of federal, state and/or community funding sources and mechanisms
• Knowledge of grant funding policies and procedures and applicable local, state, and federal regulations
• Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment
• Able to work well both independently and as part of a team
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
